Autumn's Treasures

This year's harvest prepares for the next.

Autumn's Treasures
Nearly there: Dekopon ("Sumo" in the US) Orange, Minamata, Japan. まだ...

First: Thank You to everyone who visited my space and other presentations during Sonoma County Art Trails in October (and SFCamerawork's "Tape Up" show, just now closed). I learned so much from your comments, questions, opinions and some truly illuminating ideas. A double thanks to those who picked some of my books and prints to bring home.

This year’s theme (am I the only Art Trails artist who has an annual theme?), Harvests, came to me from the pictures themselves, after the fact: I realized that for whatever reason harvesting has been a recurring theme in the images I’ve made. Moments when treasures grown, made, or found are at last ripened, complete, or revealed.

After harvest come the tillage and gleaning: unsold editions carefully checked, moved, counted and stored, taxes paid, printing materials replenished. Ongoing project fields reseeded. And most of all, gratitude for the light, the air, the soil, the spirits of my farming ancestors, and the supporters of this little plot on the networked riverbank. Thanks again.
